Bernalillo County Animal Care and Resource Center reopens after renovations
The canine rooms at the center reopened on Saturday after renovations were made to fix a black mold problem.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —
Normalcy has nearly returned to the Bernalillo County Animal Care and Resource Center.
The center was forced to limit community access in 2024 after black mold damage led to the loss of 28 canine rooms. Those rooms have been renovated and will once again house puppies waiting to find their forever home.
“I think it represents new beginnings for us,” said Animal Care Services Director Misha Goodman. “With all the excitement of opening up this space back to the public, the dogs were really excited about it.”
Free adoptions were available at Saturday’s event, as the Resource Center nears its return to full operations. Anyone seeking more information can visit www.bernco.gov/animal-care-services.
